By Craig Hubert | It’s being reported that Roger Ebert, the Pulitzer Prize winning film critic, has passed away at the age of 70. The Chicago Sun-Times, the paper where he reviewed films for 46 years, made the announcement this afternoon. “He had been in poor health over the past decade, battling cancers of the thyroid and salivary gland,” the paper reports. Two days ago, Ebert announced via a blog post that he was taking a “leave of presence,” where he announced he would be slowing down his daily writing routine due to health concerns. “It means I am not going away,” he said. He is survived by is wife, Chaz Hammelsmith, a step-daughter and two step-grandchildren. In his blog post, he left us with what are now his final written words: “So on this day of reflection I say again, thank you for going on this journey with me. I’ll see you at the movies.”
