By Bryan Hood | Okay, this is strange, but also kind of great. Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers,” which, if you happen to read this blog regularly you know we are very excited about, will be released in Los Angeles and New York this Friday. Before that, though, the film had its U.S. premier at the South by Southwest Film Festival* last night and because of that Korine and three fourths of his cast (Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine) participated in a panel discussion earlier today. We’re not clear what exactly they talked about, but, thanks to Indiewire’s Nigel Smith, we know that when the actresses were asked about sing-along scene in the movie it resulted in the trio singing a rousing rendition of Britney Spears’s “…Baby One More Time.” In news that will surprise no one, Gomez, the legit pop star of the group, stole the show. You know, if more movie panels featured the cast and crew singing karaoke, well, we’d go to more movie panels.
*Surprisingly it’s not all music in Austin, though if that’s what you’re interested in, here are some suggestions of who to see.
