By Bryan Hood | Despite a career filled with countless artistic highs, and a few scandalous lows, ask most people what comes to mind when they think of R. Kelly, and they’ll immediately say “Trapped in the Closet.” We’d call the 22-chapter music video epic — which began as a five part song on the singer’s 2005 album, “TP.3 Reloaded” — a cult classic, except at this point the bizarre, twisting narrative, about how a one-night stand reveals the sordid past of even its most tangential participants, has evolved into so much more. The series’ return, dubbed “Trapped in the Closet: The Next Installment,” was announced back in March, but IFC has only recently revealed more details. Pitchfork reports that new episodes will continue to revolve around the zany sexual exploits of a number of troublesome characters and that Kelly will portray two new characters, Dr. Perry, a therapist trying to mend two other characters’ marriage (though we’re sure that won’t go as planned), and Beeno, a crime lord. The new chapters, of which there will be at least twenty (though the singer told Billboard: “‘Trapped in the Closet’ is forever. I’ve got like a hundred chapters to come.”), will start airing at 9 p.m. EDT on Black Friday, November 23. Need to catch up beforehand? The network is airing a marathon of the first 22 chapters on Thanksgiving night, or you can watch them on the “Trapped in the Closet” website now.
