Tamara de Lempicka inspires Clé de Peau Beauté

High-end beauty brand Clé de Peau Beauté, which is part of Shiseido, is set to unveil its autumn/winter makeup collection in June, but the brand has already announced that the collection’s theme of “Fearless Beauty” was inspired by Polish Art Deco painter Tamara de Lempicka.

An important figure of the artistic scene in Paris during the 1920s, de Lempicka was not afraid to bend the rules, and her personal life caused some scandal at the time. She led a glamorous and frenetic social life, traveling often, and she moved among Hollywood and New York circles in the 1930s.

Marketing pitches the upcoming makeup collection as celebrating “the beauty of unrestrained, alluring, and provocative women like Tamara de Lempicka, encouraging them to take on new challenges, venture into the unknown, and enjoy every moment of life without worrying about societal expectations, or previously set limits.”

The brand will also be unveiling a new Holiday Collection with a packaging created by Ashley Longshore, a contemporary artist also known for her female portraits in vivid colors.  Longshore has also created six original paintings of other extraordinary women from the roaring twenties as part of this project, and these will be on display at the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, where the collection will be unveiled in June.
