Rihanna continues to make strides in the fashion world, this time collaborating with the inimitable footwear designer Manolo Blahnik on some denim-driven heels.
On the back of launching a collection for Puma at New York Fashion Week last month, the pop star will debut her luxury shoe designs, Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik, on May 5.
The limited-edition capsule collection includes six styles — comprising sandals, pumps and boots — that feature sequins and embroidery influenced by Rihanna’s hand tattoos.
One thigh-high boot, replete with a crystal-encrusted belt buckle at the top, is particularly rock-and-roll, while a pointy-toe sandal lined with light blue sequins would appeal to more demure types.
Rihanna, who was named Puma’s creative director in 2014, is also a brand ambassador for Dior. Whether swathed in a giant yellow Chinese embroidered silk robe, or barely clothed in figure-hugging netting, she never fails to stun on the red carpet, and was crowned the “most marketable celebrity” according to recent data from The NPD Group.
For his part, Blahnik, who is also making waves as the star of a feature documentary being made by Michael Roberts, said the singer’s “drive, passion, creativity and style have been reflected in the designs, with fabulous results… I think everyone is going to love what they are about to see.”
The Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik collection will be sold at Manolo Blahnik’s boutiques in New York, London and Hong Kong. Prices will range from roughly $770 to $3,500.
