Cotton Candy is Ladurée’s Latest Treat

Famed French macaron maker Ladurée has whipped up a new collaboration for the fall: this time with American artist Will Cotton, who created a new packaging scheduled to launch at Art Basel Miami 2013 in December, and a new flavor to match.

The New York-based painter, known for his surreal candy landscapes that explore themes of temptation, gluttony and indulgence, painted an image of one of his favorite models, singer Hannah Cohen, wearing a whipped cream dress, to be used on Ladurée boxes that will be sold exclusively at the confectioner’s new Lincoln Road boutique in Miami Beach. Ladurée also created a new macaron flavor, Ginger-infused Whipped Cream, to mark the tie-up.

Ladurée has previously teamed up with fashion designers to make unique versions of their famous meringue-based confections. Last year’s fashion week season saw a partnership between the pastry house and Lanvin’s creative director Alber Elbaz yield a limited-edition bubblegum pink macaron and box. Earlier this year, a collaboration with Reed Krakoff resulted in all-black chocolate macarons — which came in a custom black matte box — that perfectly reflected the designer’s love for industrial textures and his contemporary fashion ideas.

Talk about a sugary pick-me-up.
