FGI Names Rising Star Award Finalists

Fashion Group International has announced the finalists for its 16th annual Rising Star Awards, and once again the list is filled with exciting new names.

On the womenswear front, it’s tough competition. Among nine finalists, Brandon Sun, Nellie Partow, Norisol Ferrari, and Giovanna Randall of Honor are the early frontrunners. The men’s competition isn’t as tight, with just four labels in the running: Andy Hilfiger‘s Andrew Charles, Todd Snyder, Tim Coppens, and Ariel and Shimon Ovadia of GQ favorite Ovadia & Sons.

Other nominees include Fivestory’s Claire Distenfeld, who’s up against Moda Operandi and Birchbox in the retail category. (See the complete list at WWD.)

After FGI members cast their votes, the winners will be announced on January 24 at a ceremony at Cipriani 42nd Street. Ralph Rucci will do the hosting honors, while 2006 Rising Star winner Derek Lam, Paper magazine’s Mickey Boardman, and Allure editor Linda Wells are among those handing out awards. Congratulations to all the nominees.
