Freja Beha Erichsen is back in Bottega Veneta’s Spring/Summer 2013 campaign, shot by Peter Lindbergh on location at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. House creative director Tomas Maier certainly has an innate, rare gift for perfecting the essentially already perfect.
BV’s Spring is all about the dress, and it’s refreshing to see a femmed up Erichsen in Maier’s florals and bustiers, with uncomplicated hair and minimal makeup. The brand is somewhat of an anomaly in fashion advertising; they really think about their compositions, and for years have produced their campaigns under an initiative called “The Art of Collaboration,” in which, generally, non-fashion photographers work with Maier to produce image after arresting image (Lindbergh, however, is pretty “fashion”). In this case, there’s a marvelous (if not subconscious) broody sophistication — a non-stereotyped and correct rendering of the current LA zeitgeist — unlike some.
