VICE Picks Up i-D; Plans To Expand Digital Content

The latest addition to the VICE Media family is i-D magazine, the British avant-style bible.

“VICE is so excited to work with the guys at i-D magazine, one of the only fashion publications in the world we actually respect,” VICE honcho Andrew Creighton said in the announcement of the move, in his brand’s characteristically cheeky fashion, of course.

The eternally post-adolescent media co. — which has expanded from indie magazine to an empire including books, original video, a website with 34 million unique hits a month, and offices in more than 30 countries around the globe — purchased the 32-year-old style magazine with plans to expand its online fashion presence. It won’t be a massive change – the pub will stay based in London and will keep its staff. Founder Terry Jones and his wife, Tricia, will also remain onboard.

What will the partnership mean then? If we’ve learned anything from VICE it can only mean bold covers, out-there styling, and even more reports from unexpected scenes around the world — plus tons of original video content. That’s certainly something to wink at.
