Gwen Stefani Covers Vogue

The January issue of Vogue proclaims, “New Year, New Look, New Attitude,” and if that’s the magazine’s message for 2013, the cover certainly backs it up.

The image is the boldest to front the magazine in years, with singer Gwen Stefani looking golden, perched on a piano, and dressed head-to-ankles in a runway look from Hedi Slimane’s first-ever collection for Saint Laurent Paris (the shoes are Alexander Wang). With her metallic bolero, pussy bow, wide-brimmed hat (expect to start seeing those everywhere), and signature red lip, the singer looks every part the modern rock star. (Though if pressed to find fault, we would have to mention the way the mag’s title sits awkwardly between her head and hat.)

Inside the book, Stefani keeps up with equally edgy looks styled by Tonne Goodman and shot by Annie Leibovitz, including selections from A.L.C. and another runway look from Saint Laurent Paris. It’s the singer’s first time on the magazine’s cover since 2004 — and nearly nine years later, Stefani looks better than ever.
