For Pre-Fall 2013 Thakoon Panichgul has a woman in mind and my, oh my, she’s a lady. He dressed her in voluminous A-line skirts that hit demurely at the knee, and trim shirtdresses with enough detail to land just this side of prim.
The color story was less concise, offering everything from gray suiting to Pepto pink to the rather regrettable pairing of a maroon and brown Mongolian fur vest. Navy laser-cut leather and an oversized floral print on pumpkin or burgundy proved a slightly more adventurous counterpoint to sweet dresses made from layered lace.
The more modern looks came when the designer played with volume on the top, in the form of cigarette pants capped with a silvery cocoon sweater, and a ruffled peplum to keep things from getting too serious, and a roomy white skirt matched with a crisp oxford and woven jacket. For the season, Thakoon’s lady has many moods to choose from, each of them elegant.
