After spring’s flirtation with color, Nicole and Michael Colovos are back with a bit of a “palette cleanser” for Helmut Lang pre-fall 2013. The opening passage of white and linen made it clear that this would be an understated collection, one that veered toward inky blue and black, with an atmospheric dégredée offering the sole pop of color. For the most part, the shapes were structured, not slouchy, with sleek minimal shifts, chic biker jackets, and trim cropped trousers throughout.
It was a bit of a departure for the brand, but a divine backless column gown in black and white ombré united Lang’s old and new looks.
