Designer Richard Chai is going into the hotel business. New York’s Andaz 5th Avenue announced that the CFDA Award-winning designer will be creating chic yet functional uniforms for the hotel’s hosts, servers, and bartenders.“As a designer, I am inspired by the culture and design that Andaz brings to the hospitality experience. I was excited to be asked by the team at Andaz to design their first high-end collaboration and I’ve been having a great time working with the staff to make sure the line fits with their respective responsibilities within the hotel,” said Chai in a press release.
Chai joins a slew of designers who have created stylish outfits for fashionable hot spots. Sophie Theallet designed uniforms for the Gramercy Park Hotel; Narciso Rodriguez’s ensembles preceded Theallet’s uniforms there and he also made the uniforms at the Mario Batali restaurant Del Posto; and Maria Cornejo designed uniforms for the New York restaurants Buddakan and Morimoto.
