In 2007, the House of Dior entered its 60th year. To celebrate, John Galliano decided to stage a lush tribute to the the history of the brand’s namesake. And to Galliano, lush means the Orangerie of Versailles at night, with models such as Gisele Bündchen, Linda Evangelista, Shalom Harlow and Amber Valletta trotting down the runway. Louis XIV would have been pleased.
Dior revisits the palace in the ad from its new campaign, “Secret Garden — Versailles.” Directed by Dutch masterminds Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the video has Daria Strokous, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju flitting around in the gardens and hallways of Versailles, freaquently cutting between the three of them. And it’s all set to Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence.” And given how beautiful the quick clip is, yes, silence would have sufficed. But Depeche Mode makes everything better.
