Emerging fashion design Patrik Ervell (he won the Ecco Domani award for menswear in 2007) just opened a two-week-long pop-up shop with BOFFO at 57 Walker Street in New York. Ervell’s first stand alone retail outlet will sell his fall capsule collection. But there’s also a special treat for art lovers. Artist Graham Hudson designed the space, evoking the feel of a demolition zone. Concrete blocks serve as bases for glass platforms, and a mess of scaffolding hangs from the ceiling.
“Graham has a talent for using simple, almost banal materials and making them poetic,” Ervell told Vogue. “The idea was to marry destruction with the possibility of a new beginning.”
Ervell’s first venture into womenswear will be sold at the shop, featuring smaller versions of his sleek, minimalist menwear — think button-down shirts and feminine bomber jackets.
