Try the Bouroullecs Before You Buy: Vitra Launches an Interactive Interior Design App

At times that a Vitra store isn’t close at hand, or the Bouroullecs aren’t within your budget, the old Apple adage, “There’s an app for that” comes into play. Launched just last week, a new application lets you play around with different shapes, sizes, and colors of an ingenious new shelving system, with some stock tchotchkes to rearrange on an image of your actual home.

The Breton brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, who started the year on the right foot by taking the A&W Designer of the Year 2013 award (bestowed by the German magazine Architektur & Wohnen, not the root beer maker) during Imm Cologne, have come up with a storage solution more attuned to our more spontaneous needs. Called Corniches (the French word for ridge, ledge, or scenic cliffside road), these wall-mounted fixtures are a hybrid of shelf and hook, protruding ever so slightly to accommodate nothing bigger than a trinket, your hat, or set of keys.

For more interactive Bouroullec digital action, watch this Werner Herzog-ly dramatic Vitra ad.
