Baking Brasilia: A Gingerbread Tribute to Oscar Niemeyer

You can always count on architects to turn an inherently frivolous object into a delightfully functional work of “design.” Architizer recently hosted one of the tastier architecture competitions this year, asking its design-savvy readers to bake gingerbread houses reflective of their love for buildings. The winning design? A constructed confection known as “White Christmas in Brasilia,” which thoughtfully combines traditional holiday spectacle with full-functioning candy dish while paying tribute to the legendary Oscar Niemeyer who passed away earlier this month. Well done.
