Sebastienne Mundheims' Sea of Birds at Mass MoCA

The innovative theater artist Sebastienne Mundheims dreamlike work examines World War II in Eastern Europe through a childs fantasy, using striking, large kinetic paper sculpture, along with dancers, live musicians, and video projection to explore memory and history. Thematically rich, mind-blowing looks, Sea of Birds is like “Pans Labyrinth, on steroids and in person,” says Philadelphia Weekly. “Her sculptures move with an eerie starkness, as performers move through their routines and weave in layer after layer into her pieces.” MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center is transformed into an intimate playing space for this special event and there are two performances at 4, and 8 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2009.
