Sean Scully: Triptychs

In partnership with Pallant House Gallery, we are pleased to offer a slideshow of works from Sean Scully: Triptychs, on view from November 2nd to January 26th, 2014.  The press release explains:

Best known as a painter of monumental works in oil, Sean Scully (b.1945) has gained international prominence as one of the most admired painters in the abstract tradition, fusing the conventions of European painting with the distinct character of American abstraction. Working in the mould of Matisse, Mondrian and Rothko, Scully reduces painting to its simple rudiments of form and colour, revealing the medium’s capacity for expressive power. This is the first exhibition to explore the artist’s engagement with the triptych format, which has obsessed him for nearly three decades. It will feature major paintings, as well as drawings and etchings, from across the last 40 years.
