Tonight at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Bowl: the inimitable, experimental pop group Javelin. This band’s art crowd credentials are impeccable: They’re on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label (which releases the band’s first two 12″s on April 17) and they collaborated with Alanna Heiss and Clocktower Gallery on a video project and exhibition that centered on Candy Canyon, their recent country-music-goes-Robotripping album. Unlike most art bands, they will make you want to dance and smile, profusely. $5 tickets are available at the door or in advance.
If you can’t make it out to the show, you can still download “Soda Popinski,” described as a “ferocious 8-bit homage.”
