The Walker Art Center rolled out a new website last night. Most of the time new website announcements from art museums are a little, ‘Oh, that’s nice.’ They give us something newer, cleaner-designed, faster. If we’re lucky, the museum’s collection is more accessible.
That is not what the Walker Art Center did. This is a game-changer, the website that every art museum will have to consider from this point forward. It’s not perfect — the collections section of the site still needs some serious attention — but it represents a whole new approach to the art museum website. Check it out now.
