An American writer and critic based in Berlin, Alexander Forbes spent several years in New York — including a stint on the Modern Painter’s masthead and a jet-lag-plagued two years spread between continents. Forbes finally planted himself in the German capital to start the berlin art journal — a bi-monthly email and iPad magazine in english focused on Berlin’s contemporary art from a native perspective — in mid-2011. Soon after, he was tapped as editor of ARTINFO Germany. While whether Berlin lives up to its bohemian mythologies may still be up for debate, the art has failed to disappoint.
