On March 19 a complete set of Andy Warhol’s ten-piece “Endangered Species” print series from 1983 will hit the auction block as part of Sotheby’s London’s sale of Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints, where they’re expected to fetch between £250,000 and £300,000 ($378,000-$453,750), BBC News reports. Yesterday SEVEN, the art fair-exhibition hybrid that recently expanded its Miami-only presentation to coincide with Frieze New York, announced its lineup of artists and new venue for next month’s edition during Art Basel Miami Beach. The organizing galleries — BravinLee Programs, Hales Gallery, Pierogi Gallery, Postmasters, P.P.O.W, Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, and Winkleman Gallery — will set up shop in a 25,000-square-foot warehouse (pictured) at 2200 Northwest 2nd Ave (at NW 22nd Street) in Wynwood. Chuck Close is already quite a decorated painter, but he now has one more line to add to his resume: presidential portraitist. Earlier this week, a tapestry depicting President Obama by the artist was unveiled at the Mint Museum in North Carolina in honor of the Democratic National Convention. The tapestry is one of 10 that will be made available for sale (at $100,000 each) as part of a fundraiser supporting the Obama Victory Fund. (more…)
