Daniel McDermon talks to Nan Goldin in the New York Times about “The Ballad Of Sexual Dependency,” her slideshow-based personal epic, on view at the Museum of Modern Art through February 12. “I’m not responsible for anything like social media, am I? Tell me I’m not,” she says, perhaps with tongue slightly in cheek. “It can’t be true. But if it is, I feel terrible.” She goes on to throw further shade at today’s everyone-is-a-photographer culture, which apparently was just as bad before the advent of digital cameras and smartphones: “I think there were always too many photographs in the world.”
