DeRay Mckesson, the freshly-minted Baltimore mayoral candidate and Black Lives Matter activist, will be honored by his alma mater, Bowdoin College, with a portrait commissioned from R. Luke DuBois. The picture is to be included in DuBois’s forthcoming exhibition, titled “R. Luke DuBois – Now,” at Bowdoin College Museum Art (BCMA).

DuBois, a new media artist, will also be premiering a video piece in the BCMA show, where it will join the Mckesson portrait and dozens of other works produced in various media since the late 1990s. The survey travels to BCMA from its organizer, the Ringling Museum of Art in Florida, and opens March 31.
