Dispatches From Frieze: Here’s One Man Already Suffering From Fairtigue

Over at David Kordansky’s booth there’s a great Friedrich Kunath painting in which a snippet of Pavement lyrics (“I NEED TO SLEEP”) float over a pleasant landscape. The man pictured above seems to have taken that sentiment to heart — except he’s actually enacting a 2009 artwork, “Sleeping Guard,” by Swiss artist Christoph Buchel. The snoozy piece is included in “A Study in Red and Green,” an exhibition-within-the fair curated by Mark Wallinger, which also includes work by Phyllida Barlow, Franz West, Martin Creed, Paul McCarthy, and many others.
