Instagrams of the Art World: Jack Shainman’s School Upstate and Andres Serrano’s Gothic Digs

Sutton PR (suttonpr) captured Nick Cave’s performance at the opening of Jack Shainman’s brand new gallery space, the School, in Kinderhook over the weekend. Check out a review by our very own Scott Indrisek here.

And the gallery (jackshainmanny) posted a pic of Shainman himself leading  procession of percussionists through the new giant space.

Toyin Odutola (obia_thethird), also upstate for the opening of the School, posted this picture of fellow Jack Shainman-represented artist Hank Willis Thomas with the caption “It’s a bit chilly, daaahling.”

Fitz & Co. VP Rebecca Taylor (rebeccataylorny) snapped Emmanuel Perrotin and Takashi Murakami hanging out in Perrotin’s Art Basel in Hong Kong booth over the weekend.

Speaking of Murakami, the artist (takashipom) reposted this adorable picture from a screening of “Jellyfish Eyes” at the Hirshhorn last night, for which the artist wore a plush hat in the shape of a character from the film.

PS1 director Klaus Biesenbach (klausbiesenbach) stops for a selfie with PS1 founder Alanna Heiss at Fort Tilden beach on Rockaway. Biesenbach is currently planning “Rockaway! — an arts festival slated to open at the Rockaway Beach Surf Club on June 29.

Art world publicist Amani Olu (amaniolu), captured “Piss Christ” artist Andres Serrano’s gothic digs at a party in celebration of his “Residents of New York” public art project, which opened this week.
