Armory Show Off to a Bustling Start

With a redesigned image and special focus on China, the Amory Show opened to a packed house at noon today. Among the many collectors, curators, and critics, we spotted actor Neil Patrick Harris, musician David Byrne, actor Ethan Suplee (who we also saw in Miami shopping with Leonardo DiCaprio), and Miami Collector Donald Rubell strolling the aisles. Check out some highlights from the first hours of the fair below.

Here’s Miami Collector Donald Rubell checking out the works at Düsseldorf gallery Sies + Höke’s booth.

Artists participating in (or curating) the Whitney Biennial were also featured at several booths. Michelle Grabner’s large piece was front and center at James Cohan.

Biennial artist Lisa Anne Auerbach’s fiber works were on view at Palm Beach’s Gavlak Gallery. A merino wool sweater piece titled “Oops! Toxic B.S. (2014), together with a merino wool stitched onto stretched linen work “Let the Dream Write Itself” (2014), were on sale as a pair for $30,000.

Look for more Armory coverage on ARTINFO, including a sales report by Judd Tully, this week.
