TONIGHT IN NYC: SculptureCenter Honors Fred Wilson, Susanne Ghez

What: SculptureCenter Gala and Karaoke Jam
Where: The Edison Ballroom, 240 West 47th Street, NYC
When: 6:30 Cocktails / 8:00 Dinner / 9:30 Karaoke

Tonight, the well-known Long Island City-based institution kicks out all the stops with a gala dinner to honor Fred Wilson and Susanne Ghez. Both are well worth honoring: Ghez is the outgoing executive director of Chicago’s Renaissance Society, and Wilson is best known as a guest star in Jay Z‘s “Picasso Baby” video, but also happens to be a MacArthur Genius Grant-winning artist and alumni of the U.S.’s Venice Biennale pavilion. Tickets are several orders of magnitude more expensive than a night at the movies — but they come with the tantalizing promise of a karaoke afterparty hosted by artist Mariah Robertson, plus a performance by Korakrit Arunanondchai, a veteran of the SculptureCenter’s “In Practice: Double Life” show. And who doesn’t love karaoke?
