The Cleveland Museum of Art has appointed 26-year-old Beau Rutland to the position of assistant curator of contemporary art. Rutland, who starts work Monday, recently graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree in critical and curatorial studies of Modern art and was previously a curatorial assistant at the Whitney. He will work under associate curator of contemporary art Reto Thurling, who started at the museum last year.
“I’m thrilled, I’m really excited about it,” Rutland told the Plain Dealer. “I knew the second I graduated that I wanted to get back into museums,” he said. “Out of all the possibilities [for jobs] this is by far the most exciting.”
