Mad for Merch: Tracey Emin-Designed Towels, Tees, and Flip-Flops Will Be Sold During ABMB

On December 4, just in time for the throngs of migrant art worlders flying into town for Art Basel in Miami Beach, the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami will open “Angel Without You,” Tracey Emin‘s first solo show at a U.S. museum. For the occasion, the British art star has been commissioned by MOCA and the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel to design a limited edition towel, tee-shirt, and flip-flops.

The high art beach gear, which comes emblazoned with the sentence “Kiss me Kiss me Cover my Body in Love” and “I Kiss You” from Emin’s same-named 2004 neon sculptures, will go on sale the week of the mega-fair, and will be available in the MOCA store, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, and online. The MOCA exhibition, not incidentally, focuses on her extensive work in neon sculpture.

The Emin-branded beach towels (seen above and below) are far and away our new favorite artist towels, easily unseating an earlier feat in contemporary art merchandising: The Francis Bacon towel.
