Though we’ll readily admit that our profound fondness for certain art curators goes well beyond professional admiration, when we talked about wanting to get into a curator’s pants, this isn’t what we had in mind: J.Crew is now selling the “Collection curator pant” (2013, polyester, pictured), “a chic alternative to the standard work trouser” that is available in garish lime green (sorry, “fresh kiwi”), navy blue, and hot pink.
The sleek pants are available at two price points for budget and blue chip collectors, with the green and blue versions retailing for a practically Jeff Koons-ian cost of $168, while the pant in Marilyn Minter-esque pink will make a smaller splash in your wallet now that it’s one sale for just $138. The full description of the “Collection curator pant,” from J.Crew’s online store, reads thusly:
Our beloved curator pant in fluid and flattering crepe fabric. With a draped, slouchy fit and a skinny tapered leg, it wears beautifully (and is a chic alternative to the standard work trouser). Bonus—it’s finished with just-right details like a hidden zipper at the side and tiny notches at the hem.
So if you’ve been looking to buy the pantsless curator in your life a nice pair of summery trousers, J.Crew’s got you covered. The rest of us will simply have to incorporate the “Collection curator pant” into our carefully curated wardrobes.
