Armory Show Taps John Waters for Centennial Committee and Names New Partners

As this year marks the centennial of New York art fair the Armory Show’s namesake landmark exhibition, the fair has partnered with a number of local and international organizations, and selected a special Centennial Committee of leading collectors, to mark the historical occasion. The fair announced its returning and new partners today, as well as the collectors — including Peter Brant, Agnes Gund, and John Waters — who will serve on its committee.

The Centennial Committee, which features 70 individuals and couples, includes Beth Rudin DeWoody, Adam Lindermann, Wendy Murdoch, Brant, Gund, Waters, Ana Sokoloff, Benedikt Taschen, and more. Select committee members will offer private tours of their collections to Armory Show VIPs.

Meanwhile, new partner organizations for the mega-fair include PBS’s art21, the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard, the Courtauld Institute, the French Institute Alliance Française, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Performa, and the Andy Warhol Museum. Returning partner institutions like MoMA — which will also be hosting the Solange Knowles-headlined Armory Party — the Metropolitan Museum, Atlanta’s High Museum, the Montclair Art Museum, and the New York Historical Museum will also be hosting exhibitions related to the 1913 Armory Show. The 2013 Armory Show runs March 7-10 at piers 92 and 94.
