Two More Galleries Join Lower East Side’s Art-Filled Orchard Street Corridor

Two more galleries have migrated to the Lower East Side’s Orchard Street, which already boasts over a half-dozen galleries including Miguel Abreu, Rachel Uffner, Nicelle Beauchene, Lesley Heller, and more. Sasha Wolf Gallery, a photography space formerly located Chelsea, has opened up at 70 Orchard Street, while one-time Midtown gallery New Art Center has transformed itself into Artifact, which opened a few doors up at 84 Orchard.

The current exhibition at Artifact, the six-artist group show “Aftermath,” closes on Sunday. Meanwhile, Sasha Wolf’s inaugural show in its LES space, fittingly titled “An Introduction,” features photographs — primarily landscapes — by gallery artists, and closes January 13, 2013.
