See “Painter of Pancakes” Dan Lacey’s “Binders Full of Women” Mitt Romney Portrait

Proving that the wildfire-fast spread of the Mitt Romney “Binders Full of Women” meme has reached beyond the nebulous world of internet art into the world of actual (sort of) fine art, notorious painter of political pancakes Dan Lacey produced the above oeuvre, “Mitt Romney With Binders Full Of Women” (2012), mere hours after the Republican presidential candidate uttered the baffling and now-iconic phrase.

The artwork was featured very early yesterday morning on the Tumblr Binders Full of Women, and is being auctioned off on eBay by Lacey, where he notes that the work is “an 8 by 10 acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas from a canvas pad.” As of this writing, with two days left to bid, the current highest bid is $107.50 after a total of 18 bids.

UPDATE: At 7:48am EST, there have been 22 bids on Lacey’s “Mitt Romney With Binders Full Of Women,” with the leader holding at $224.72.

The striking painting not only features Romney carrying two large binders out of a single, creepily dismembered female leg protrudes, but also Lacey’s signature accessory — a pancake — balanced on one of the legs’ foot. Most perplexing, however, is Lacey’s demonic rendering of U.S. President Barack Obama, who lurks in the composition’s background with vampiric red eyes. We share the confusion of the commenter on Lacey’s blog who asked: “Why did you give the President devil eyes?”
