“Tired of Chelsea,” Marvelli Gallery Plans Move Out of the Neighborhood

Marvelli Gallery, the contemporary art gallery that specializes in photography, is moving out of its W 26th Street space and into another neighborhood. “I’m bored and tired of Chelsea,” Marcello Marvelli told ARTINFO over the phone, noting that he’d been in the area for 10 years. “It’s time for a move.”

Marvelli said he is looking for a ground floor space on the Lower East Side or Upper East Side. (He doesn’t plan to look in Brooklyn, he said.) In the meantime, the gallery will relocate to the 8th floor of its current building at 526 W 26th Street. In an e-mail to friends, Marvelli noted that the gallery would be open by appointment through the summer. A group exhibition of work by Christer Stromholm, Craigie Horsfield, and Larry Fink will be on view.
