See French Street Art Star JR’s Enormous New High Line Mural

Though the French street artist JR has been all over lately — most recently in Cuba as part of the Havana Biennial — he was back in his adoptive hometown recently to plaster a building-sized photo-mural on a wall near the north end of the High Line park as part of his ongoing “Inside Out Project.”

The new mural, “Brandon Many Ribs, Standing Rock Reservation, North Dakota,” features an extreme close-up of its namesake, eyes firmly clenched and apparently screaming, against a backdrop of black dots.

Though likely unintentional, it doubles as an extreme version of the many peeking faces many people with High Line-adjacent apartment have placed in their windows.
