Already looking forward to the 2011 edition of Art Basel Miami Beach? It’s only 120-some days away! The Rubell Family Collection and Contemporary Art Foundation is planning ahead with the announcement of its winter exhibition, “American Exuberance,” a show that features artists reflecting on and engaging in the American experience.
Long a favorite of the ABMB crowd, the Rubell Family Collection exhibitions provide a centerpiece to the annual fair’s festivities and a must-see for any gallerists, critics, collectors, and art aficionados making the southward trip. “American Exuberance” will feature work by 40 artists in the Rubell Family Collection, including such well-known names as Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Keith Haring, and Nate Lowman. The exhibition will run from November 30, 2011 to July 27, 2012.
A press release provides some more details:
The Rubell Family Collection/Contemporary Arts Foundation is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition American Exuberance. It will occupy all 28 galleries at the 45,000 sq ft Miami museum and will be accompanied by a large-format catalog.
In the United States, different cultures and sensibilities constantly collide, often producing singular visions. The artists in this exhibition explore creativity on their own terms in a way that both reacts to, and engages in the American experience. Their work offers a reflection of America as the unparalleled and often challenging place it is, at once confounding and exuberant.
40 artists will be featured including Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Hannah Greeley, Keith Haring, Richard Jackson, Rashid Johnson, Mike Kelley, Nate Lowman, Paul McCarthy, John Miller, Ruby Neri, Cady Noland, Richard Prince, Charles Ray and Sterling Ruby. Many of the works have never previously been exhibited.
